Time flies

Day 54

He is 13 pounds and 2 ounces. He doubled his birth weight already! YOU GO my son!! We are just so proud of him being a good eater, sleeper and grower!

No more 0-3 months size clothes. Bigger diaper. Sleep through 6 hours straight at night.

He loves when we sing hymns to him and talk to him in high pitch. He would respond us by cooing.  

Oh by the way, we love this baby nasal aspirator. MUST HAVE item if you have a baby. I was so bothered whenever I see his little buggies in his little nose. This saved me and my baby.

Happy birthday my love

Happy Happy birthday! We love you!

His 28th birthday theme was basketball. He was depressed about getting old and told me that he didn't want to celebrate it. I decided to cheer him up with the thing he loved most (besides me and SJ), basketball. When he saw what I did, he was so happy. He walked into the living room and looked around with this really confused look and shouted out, "BASKETBALL!" hahahahahaha

And my husband is now brainwashing my son to like basketball... I don't know how I feel about this.

Library of Congress

Yesterday was Emancipation Day. My husband and I didn't know what that was but we were very happy that it was a holiday! Later we found out that it was the day President Lincoln signed a declaration freeing 3,100 slaves in Washington DC. Nine months later, the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, freeing slaves in 10 confederate states. I thought it was pretty cool that only DC got an extra holiday like this. Since my husband is working in DC, we got to do something fun. When we left the house we were planning to watch the parade on Pennsylvania Avenue, but once we stepped out, we changed our mind. It was so hot, the temperature read 82 fahrenheit/28 celsius. 

Due to the heat and humidity, we decided to go somewhere indoors where we could enjoy the refreshing AC, so the United States Library of Congress seemed most fitting!

 It was really beautiful! The architecture on the outside was very majestic but the inside was reverent and articulate. 

They didn't allow us to take pictures of all the cool things but I snuck in a picture of one of the first printed Bibles on display. I did this with skill and precision, making it look like I was taking a picture of myself but really shooting what was behind me. The Bible is absolutely massive and extremely neat!

Baby SJ was asleep the entire time. I think he also was tired and exhausted from the hot hot weather.

All recovered!

I had my 6 week check up with my OB/GYN.

Recovery from my delivery, breastfeeding, baby having jaundice, and everything else that I've done in the last 6 weeks has been new to me. Looking back I don't know how I did it but I know I won't miss it. All I have to say is, I would not have made it this far without my husband and good boy baby SJ. I am so grateful for my husband who tries his best to help me with everything that I need. One time he had to run to four different grocery stores all over Virginia and DC to get everything I needed and wanted and did it numerous times; buying, returning and exchanging, all done by my man. Without any complaints he would wake up when I feed the baby to grab me a glass of water and change SJ's diaper. I'm also very grateful for baby SJ. He is such a good baby. We hardly hear him cry. Even when he needs to be fed, he won't cry much. AND lastly...... me! I am very proud of myself! Being a mom isn't easy at all. It is very challenging. I would say it was the most difficult thing in my life yet most rewarding. I have a new grown respect for all mothers around the world and especially my mom. She had to work since I was a baby and I would cry all the time, she said she had no time to rest. Her only wish was to sleep more than one hour straight. But she wasn't lazy about giving me a bath every single day, hand wash every single diaper (she used fabric diapers...yeah.. I would never do that) and then boil in hot water to sanitize it. Now I understand how CRAZY that would be. Her sacrifice and love towards me was great and I am ever thankful for her.

Anyways, now that I am all recovered, there is so many things that I want to do! YAY!

Easter weekend and Baby blessing

We had an amazing Easter weekend!

My in-laws came all the way from Toronto to see baby SJ for the Easter weekend. They used to come to Washington DC to visit the temple 25 years ago because it was the only temple in the East Coast. This was my father-in-law's first time meeting his first grandson in real life, so I decided to surprise him by showing up at the airport with SJ. When I got out of the car, he was so surprised, he could not stop smiling. We drop their luggage and went to the temple. It was a perfect day to go to the temple to say thanks to Heavenly Father for all the blessings, especially baby SJ. For my parents-in-law, they wanted to say thanks to all these many decades. Before I left the house to go to the temple, I didn't forget to grab a set of pictures I found of my husband when he was a baby with his parents at the Washington DC Temple 24 years ago. I thought it would be great if we took the same picture in the exact spot with baby SJ. When we got to the temple, we could not find the exact same spot since, they changed up a few things and expanded the parking lot, but it was close enough!

It was so nice to visit the temple... except baby SJ decided to do the biggest poo-poo. It was leaking everywhere and I could not wait for the mother's room to become available and decided to change him in the stroller. Good thing I brought extra clothes. You NEVER know what to expect with this little guy.

On Sunday, my sister-in-laws family joined us and brought a feast! We all enjoyed Easter lunch and went to church for baby SJ's baby blessing. Easter is already a very special day but it just got a little more significant for our little family.

I am grateful for the fine example Jesus Christ laid for me and everyone. For Him to make the biggest sacrifice of all, to fulfill the Atonement and became our literal Savior and advocate between Heaven and Earth is something I truly believe and am most grateful for. The happiness that fills my heart with all the little blessings in my life, especially my little family, is something I know is the root of our Savior's pure love. I am grateful that we can feel such happiness and know that it is the Light of Christ.

5 minute walk

The weather has been so great all day and I was itching to go out (to be honest I really wanted to try out our new baby carrier that we just got..hehe). Even though sweat pants were the only thing I was able to fit into, I was still very willing to make that sacrifice and enjoy the beautiful walk outside. When I stepped out from my apartment building the warm breeze was so nice! The good warm feeling deepened when I looked at my husband and baby right next to me. We could not walk too long since the sun was about to set, but I was so happy the entire time we were walking. I have two loves in my life right now. I am so excited to see my family grow and share great memories.

One month old

Oh my gosh! I can't believe baby SJ is a month old already! He is growing and changing so much, especially his face, it seems like it changes every hour. His face in the morning and at night appear to be so different. This past month with this little thing in my life has brought me so many blessings. My husband and I always say, "How did we live without him all this time?" He definitely became a large part of our life and we want to try our best to be the best parents for him.

Updates on baby SJ. He definitely got chubbier and only getting chubbier. So cute hehe :) We go through at least 12 diapers a day. He sleeps 4 hours at a time through the night (yay!!). When we put him on his stomach, he can lift his head and looks right to left and left to right. He started cooing. He stares at himself in the mirror. 

Those stuffed animals are my husband's. When he moved to Canada from Korea 25 years ago, his cousin gave him the toy lion-looking-monkey to him at the airport and has kept it since. This has been his favorite toy and can't seem to let it go, as well as this crooked-eye teddy bear he got when he moved to Toronto. Eus said he can only let baby SJ play with those stuffed animals.
