My husband and I were looking for something to do as a family for the weekend. Since the weather cooled down, we wanted to do something that we didn't do before and do something that wasn't indoors. There was one thing I really wanted to do for the longest time; pick fruits at an orchard or farm. I never imagined there to be a farm in the DMV (D.C, Maryland, Virginia). However, my husband's cousin found the perfect place that we could hit up to pick fruits and vegetables only 30 miles from our house. We were so excited! This farm we went to had everything to choose from; apple, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, grape, peach, watermelon, potato, tomato, kale, peppers, squash, pumpkins and much more for us to pick. Since apple and raspberry are in season we were allowed to pick those. I loved everything about this activity. I loved the full green trees, bright blue sky, luscious red apples, smell in the air of the fresh orchard and much more. Heavenly Father truly is an artist. He has blessed us with beautiful and marvelous things for our eyes to see and enjoy and our senses to feel excitement. After picking apples we tried to dig up dirt to find potatoes. It was so much fun! Baby SJ got to touch apples and squeeze them. His favorite part of the day was standing in the wagon and balancing himself as his dad pushed him from behind. SJ really thought he was driving. He held his balance the entire time, even with all the bumps, he had the time of his life and never turned around once. We bought some delicious relish made from the farm. We are looking forward to going back to pick our own pumpkin for Halloween.
oops :) please excuse my bum bum... i was too excited for those apples!
